Why we started

A decision is easier to make when you can see it

Most of the expensive mistakes in a build are made on paper. A drawing set answers whether something fits. It does not answer whether the room feels right, whether the sightline works from the third row, whether the sign reads from across the street, or whether anyone can hear the person on stage.

Render Foundry exists to answer those questions before they cost anything. We build the space in Unreal Engine at full fidelity and in real time, then let people walk it, hear it, change it and decide by looking — rather than by imagining.

That is the argument the studio was founded on in 2023. We were working on Kern’s Food Hall at the time, and the questions that came up were not really design questions or engineering questions — they were both at once. Where does a large LED screen go on an event lawn so that it plays to the lawn and to the people watching from the second-story porch? You can argue about that over a site plan for a week. You can answer it in an afternoon by standing in the space and looking.

So we built the space. Then we built a VR walkthrough of it, which Kern’s used to promote the venue and sign vendors before a single wall existed. The building was still a drawing; the experience of it was already real enough to sell. Render Foundry exists because that combination — the design thinking and the technology to make it visible — is hard to buy in one place.

What we bring

Three disciplines, one pipeline

Simulation studios rarely make content. Content studios rarely simulate. Doing both under one roof is the reason the screen and what plays on it end up designed together.

Design craft

Twenty-five years of graphic arts, motion design and video sit behind the creative direction — and Unreal Engine has been the studio's primary tool since 2017, well before real-time rendering became the default answer.

Placemaking & public art

Placemaking, metaverse activations, digital twins, public art and high-performance audio — the experience side of the practice, and the reason the work lands in aquariums, plazas and lobbies rather than only on screens.

Experiential delivery

Business development and experiential design that bridges creative intent and what actually gets installed: ProAV, media servers, pipelines and the control systems the finished piece has to run on.

Between us

A combined 75 years of expertise across the leadership team, and more than 50,000 square feet of LED display driven — from single lobby walls to architectural-scale volumes that wrap a building.

Placemaking, metaverse activations, digital twins, public art, and high-performance audio. Vision and focus across every discipline.

What we stand for

Four things we won't trade away

Decide by looking

If a question can be settled by walking the space, we build the space. We would rather spend a week making something visible than spend a month describing it.

Built for the surface

Content is authored for the real pixel pitch, aspect, brightness and viewing angle of the thing it will live on — never letterboxed from a 16:9 master and hoped for the best.

No friction at the handoff

Clear handoffs between design, install and operations, with documentation and repeatable workflows. The people who run the display after we leave should never have to guess.

We stay after the install

Monitoring, content refreshes, training and roadmapping. Most of our work comes from clients we already built something for, which only happens if the thing keeps working.

The buzz

Clients put it better
than we ever could

Rapid prototyping within a digital twin environment improved our innovation process. We saved a lot of time, reduced risk, and created very effective simulations while demonstrating mission-critical solutions with exacting detail.

Jamie Clark
President & Director, Fountainhead Control Rooms

My customer reviewed a dozen custom display options to find just the right fit. You can fly around the space, see things at scale, and really get a feel for how customers will interact. It greatly speeds up the decision process.

Todd Alan Green
Global Manager, Nanolumens — Airports & Transportation

For me, this was a game changer. No longer waiting for a product to be built to decide what needed to change. We saved time, money, and added more value in a very short period.

Render Foundry helped me visualize what our new space could be. The collaborative service created alignment with all the decision-makers.
